Have you wanted to be part of the music ministry, but have had trouble finding the right time to join? As we prepare for the season starting in September, this is the perfect opportunity to think about how you would like to be involved. For all of these ministries, please contact Remi Bauer, Director of Music, at [email protected].
Adult Choir
The Adult Choir rehearses on Thursday evenings and serves at one Mass each weekend September through June. Our group not only sings together, we pray, laugh, and support one another. New members should meet with the director privately beforehand. Skills required include the ability to match pitch, carry a tune, and blend with others.
Accompanists
We are in need of more accompanists who serve once every 3 weeks. Skills include the ability to sight read, the ability to follow the pace of the cantor, improvising the ends of pieces when a little more music is required, and knowledge of the sequence of the Mass. New accompanists are trained by helping other accompanists with partial Masses until they are ready to serve for an entire Mass.
Instrumentalists
Wind and string instruments can add beautifully to the music at Mass. Instrumentalists are often added to a specific Mass time to serve consistently with the same team, or they serve weekly with the choir. Those serving as instrumentalists must be highly skilled, be excellent sight-readers, and be flexible when playing with other musicians.
Teen Choir
The Teen Choir, consisting of musicians in grades 6-12, is an essential part of our music ministry, and they serve once every 3 weeks September-June. We are also looking for adults who would like to play guitar or other instruments, or help in any way as we empower our young people to minister to our community. Adults interested in helping should contact Remi Bauer. Teen musicians can contact Remi, or look for announcements in August about registering.
