Thanksgiving Food Baskets for Gaithersburg Families

The City of Gaithersburg is seeking volunteers to shop for and deliver Thanksgiving food baskets to Gaithersburg families.  Your responsibility would be to purchase and deliver to one family the ingredients and items that make up a traditional Thanksgiving meal or other items depending on the family’s preference.  No cooking on your part is required!  Some Families may prefer grocery store gift cards so that they can shop for themselves. Please note that actual baskets are not necessary. Delivering the food in grocery bags is fine.

Here's how it works:

• Sign up HERE by Nov 1st. Please indicate in the Comment section if you are willing to provide food for a family of 6 or more people.
• We will then send you by email a flyer explaining all participation details.
• Once we receive a list of Gaithersburg families in mid November, we will send you the contact information for the family assigned to you.
• We then ask that you contact the family immediately to ask about food preferences and to set up a time to drop off the donations. Sometimes contacting the families does not always work on the first try so we ask you to get an early start.
• Please be sure to ask families what types of food they like or if they would rather have gift cards. 
• Deliver your baskets a few days before Thanksgiving at the time that you have arranged.
