Journey to the Inn is a simplified one-day ceremony in the tradition of Las Posadas. Meaning “the inns” or “ the shelters”, the Las Posadas ceremonies are simple reenactments of the story of Christ’s birth initiated by 16th-century Spanish Franciscan missionaries to touch the hearts of the Mexican people. Traditionally held on nine consecutive nights just prior to Christmas, the Las Posadas reenactments give emphasis to Mary and Joseph’s search for shelter before Our Savior’s birth and teach our communities that Christmas is a holy day celebrating the birth of Christ.
