Reverend Monsignor Paul J. Langsfeld, passed away on July 9th, at the Saint Jeanne Jugan Residence of the Little Sisters of the Poor in Washington, DC. The Vigil with Monsignor's cremains will be held on August 20, 2021, at Saint Joseph Parish, Washington, D.C. from 3:00pm - 7:00pm, with the Vigil Mass at 7:30pm. Wilton Cardinal Gregory will celebrate the Funeral Mass at Saint Joseph Parish at 10:30am on August 21, 2021. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, Maryland.
Msgr. Langsfeld was born on October 4, 1949, in Denver, Colorado and raised in Atlanta Georgia. In preparation for ordination in the Archdiocese of Washington he attended St. Louis University, St. Louis, Missouri, Theological College, Washington, D.C., the North American College, Rome, and the American College of Louvain, Belgium. He was ordained as a priest of the Archdiocese of Washington on May 14,1977 at the Cathedral of Saint Matthew the Apostle.
Msgr. Langsfeld became the pastor at St. Rose from 2012 to 2014. Though he was with us for a short period of time, he was well respected and loved. He was then assigned to Saint Joseph Parish in Washington and in 2016 was admitted into the Jeanne Jugan Residence, for health care by the Little Sisters of the Poor.
We give thanks to God for the life of Monsignor Paul Langsfeld, for the gift of his priesthood and for the many years he was teacher, priest, and pastor to the many individuals and congregations God had him serve.
