This year St. Rose is again collecting hats, mittens, and scarves for City of Gaithersburg children. This donation opportunity will be promoted on the Gifting Trees that will be set up in the church from Thanksgiving through December 9. The City will host a holiday gathering for families on December 13th at Bohrer Park where they will distribute two of these cold weather items to approximately 1500 children, infant through 11 years old.
With the ambitious task of collecting about 3000 items for the December 13 gift distribution, we are trying to expand our collection ability beyond the St. Rose community. If you have the chance to share this opportunity with neighbors, work colleagues, friends, book clubs, children’s groups like scouts, etc., please do so. Donations of these items will be accepted now through Sunday, December 9. A donation bin is currently in the church foyer if you would like to drop off items before the Gifting Trees are up. Beginning on Thanksgiving through Sunday, December 9, donations are to be place under one of the gifting trees. Additional information about City of Gaithersburg Community Outreach efforts can be found on the Community Services/Holiday Giving Page at www.gaithersburgmd.gov.
Many thanks for spreading the news about this wonderful opportunity and for helping St. Rose bring warmth and cheer to children in our community.
