Memorial of St. Rose of Lima
Patron Saint of
Our Parish, Peru, Latin America & the Philippines
Feast Day: August 23
St. Rose of Lima was the first saint born in the Americas. Born in 1586, she lived only 31 years, most of them as a religious sister. She was renowned for her devotion to the Eucharist and for the severe penances and mortifications that she performed. In the Spanish culture of that period, those practices were considered a sign of holiness. She died on August 23, 1617. On August 24-25, 2024, we will celebrate her feast day. Her statue will be on an Anda with flowers in the Church. If you would like to remember a loved one and contribute to the cost of the flowers on the Anda and/or the well, please click HERE until February 21, 2024. There will be a specially-marked box that weekend where you can also contribute. To learn more about the life of St. Rose and for a Novena please go to: www.strose-parish.org/biography-of-st-rose
