Father Mateo, two staff and a parishioner recently participated in the Conference on the Catechesis of Persons with Disabilities held in Rome, Italy. This Conference was hosted by the Pontifical Council for Promoting the New Evangelization. Speakers from arond the world presented on the theological background, engagement of and best practices of catechesis with persons with disabilities. The St. Rose Adaptive Religious Education program was highlighted by Mary O'Meara from the Office of Special Needs in the Archdiocese of Washington as a "best practice" program. The mini-documentary created by one of our own parishioners was shown at the conference to 400 participants. (See the mini-documentary below.) The higlight of the conference was being addressed directly by the Holy Father about our role in the evangilization and Christian formation of those with disabilities.
